Hail Creek Mine seeks to be more than just a major source of local employment and economic growth, rather to work in partnership with the local community. Through its community relations programme, Rio Tinto Coal Australia is working to help provide positive long term outcomes for the Mackay region.
Hail Creek Mine is engaged in regular consultation and ongoing communication with our stakeholders. Feedback from our neighbours and local communities is used to inform future decision-making. Our community relations programme is focussed on building lasting relationships based on mutual respect, active partnership and long term commitment.
Recent examples of our consultation and involvement in the community include:
- Hail Creek Mine Community Development Fund
- Wiri Yuwiburra Community Benefits Trust
- Newsletters and publications
- Feedback through Rio Tinto Coal Australia's sustainable development report
