Rio Tinto supports aged care service in Clermont
Clermont's Monash Lodge has been given a boost from Rio Tinto Coal Australia, with a donation of $2068.
Rio Tinto Coal Australia's Blair Athol Mine and Clermont Mine Project decided to support Monash Lodge as it requires funding to furnish its new building extensions.
"We recognise the importance of supporting the local community in which we operate, and the local aged care service which continues to provide critical support to our elderly in the community," Clermont Mine General Manager Construction Dave Lamb said.
The mines decided to combine funds raised at this year's Clermont Show booth, with the value of the safety milestone award achieved by Blair Athol's Mine Services Crew.
Mine Services Crew Supervisor Tony Rose said the decision to support Monash Lodge was an easy one.
"We are pleased to be able to contribute to their continued support of the local community," he said.
"It is great to see local organisations benefit from our fundraising efforts especially places like Monash Lodge which do a fantastic job."
Blair Athol Mine General Manager Operations, Andrew Cole, said it was rewarding to give back into the local community.
"During the Clermont Show we received tremendous support from the community and it was great to see people digging deep, knowing that the money raised was going back into the community," Mr Cole said.
Monash Lodge Nurse Manager Judith Ivory said Rio Tinto Coal Australia's support was a much needed boost to complete the building extensions.
"To know that the work we do is seen and appreciated by the local community makes it all worthwhile," Ms Ivory said.
"This donation will give us the boost we needed to be able to furnish the new extensions which in the end will mean better conditions for our senior citizens."
